On pony rides with Lucy and Stella children get to experience fun in the saddle. When it comes to children's riding lessons the emphasis is on ensuring everyone has fun and ensuring they discover the joy of horses. It isn’t just at the weekly horse show that our ponies and horses look forward to being tended and groomed from head to hoof.

Please note that hack rides are for advanced level riders, and can only be booked after a previously booked riding session with a riding instructor. This is to enable our riding instructor to make a concrete assessment of your ability.
Opening hours
Our riding stables are open daily from 9:00 to 18:00. Depending on the weather, certain riding sessions may also take place a little later after consultation with the riding instructor.
Since our horses enjoy a well-deserved lunch break and rest from 12:00 to 14:00, entry to the stables is not permitted at this time.
Stable rules & Information
- Entering the riding area, riding stables and the pasture area is not permitted without being accompanied by a riding instructor.
- It is the stable workers’ duty to feed the horses and we would ask our guests not to feed the horses.
- Smoking is not permitted in and around the stables.
- Helmets are compulsory for all booked riding lessons.
- If a jumping course and a hack ride is booked, protective vests must be worn too (for those up to the age of 18).
- Riding clothing should be chosen to suit the weather conditions. (We also provide equipment to hire.)
- With a riding helmet, riding boots and sturdy footwear, as well as casual riding attire, you will be perfectly prepared for your riding session.

Riders of all ages will receive a questionnaire about their ability levels in advance, so our riding instructors can find the optimum riding session for you. Hand in your completed questionnaire direct to Reception, or to your riding instructor. Should you not have received it, you have the opportunity to get one from a riding instructor or from our Reception team, then you can complete it. - Cancellation
Please let us know in good time if you are not able to keep to your appointment. You can cancel your session at any time, at the latest 24 hours in advance, free of charge. In the event of late cancellation we have to charge the full amount. - Duration & start of session
We would ask you to arrive at the stables around 10 minutes before your booked session. Out of respect for guests who follow after you, please note that if you are late, the time of your session will be reduced accordingly. - Riding is done at your own risk.

Horse stables & riding area at the Unterschwarzachhof
So many things connect us with horses. So much more than just animals used for riding, they are companions, trustworthy partners and often a best friend. On holiday too, experience that special feeling and the passion that connects us to these wonderful creatures.
Our trained horses stay in bright, large boxes complete with paddock, grazing area, horse solarium and many other lovely features for rider and horse.
The Riding Room – exclusive location
Do you enjoy special things? Then the exclusive location in the glazed hayloft of the horse stables, with views to the actual stables area, is a fitting setting for your small, sophisticated celebration or event; from a private dinner, to incentive.
Much like a village within a village, the ensemble is based around extensive garden facilities that link the hotel and the terrace to the stables and out buildings. Nestling in the lush pastures of the farm are the horse stables, complete with riding area and outdoor area; another gem at the Unterschwarzachhof.
Natural playground and mini farm
Along with the stables and the outdoor riding area with its stands, the fountain babbles and the leaves of the shade-providing linden tree rustle in the wind. Children’s laughter can be heard from the natural play area and from the children’s farm, where our little guests can enjoy being with new friends in their own farmhouse, and enjoy wonderful supervision. In the ‘Minialmhütte’ children can enjoy cooking and baking in their own kitchen, as well as crafting and games. Meanwhile in the mini farm which has a run area, donkeys, goats, alpacas, sheep and mini ponies enjoy being petted. And while you enjoy the mountain panorama in one of the swing recliners, you can smell the aroma of fresh mint from the herb garden.
