When the Unterschwarzachhof starts to come to life in the early morning in summer, with the sound of plates and boxes being moved in the kitchens and the extensive breakfast buffet is yet to be filled, it’s time to enjoy an Alpine breakfast.
On such a day, it is worth getting up nice and early to head up to the organic farm up on the mountain. Some guests hike up, athletes ride up on their mountain bikes, and late risers make their way by hotel taxi, or take the cable car and walk the last stretch.
Children especially love walking across the meadows and along paths up the mountain with their favourite guardian animals from the hotel’s mini farm; even the youngest really enjoy the walk.
An experience for all the senses
On the mountain, a pure idyll awaits. Tables decked with white tablecloths are laid out on the large meadow next to the organic farm. The Alpine flowers and mountain peaks shine under the blue Glemmtal sky, and your appetite really gets going when you see the richly laid table with a wide range of local delicacies.
The wood-burning stove glows with heat, Toni’s cows graze on the grass, and it is from them that the organic milk, some butter, yoghurt, and fresh cheese has come. The colourful, fruity jams are not only labelled “home-made” but are genuinely that. The herbs for the fresh cheese are grown behind the building.
Whilst the children help fetch eggs in from the henhouse, Toni, your host, shows you the state-of-the-art organic farm with its cheese dairy, producing fresh butter, cheese, and other delicious produce from the milk from the Pinzgau cows.
