Regionality and sustainability

Sustainable culinary pleasure

Our kitchens use ingredients from our own organic farm such as beef from our Pinzgau cattle, good organic hay milk that we also used to produce cheese and butter, and eggs from our chickens. In our choice of other ingredients, we place great value on using produce from the local region. It is important to us to support the locality, and to present you with a genuine taste of the Alps.

Heating using sustainable raw materials

It’s not only home-grown produce from the farm that we use. We also get our wood for the wood pellet heating at the 4 star superior hotel in Hinterglemm from our own woodland. Wood pellets are a sustainable raw material compared to fossil fuels, and are environmentally friendly. We are considering the future for our children.

Local produce and producers

We are making our contribution to ensure there will be traditional producers that have developed over generations, and that Austrian businesses, craftsmen, and local businesses remain in the future too and are able to trade. In all areas of the hotel and other Unterschwarzachhof businesses, great value was placed on using natural materials, for the most part from local suppliers. These were then adapted and modified again mainly using local workers and craftsmen. Even in the choice of suppliers for clothing for the Unterschwarzachhof team, it was important for us to choose the Austrian traditional business brands.
